History
Project Haiti was founded by Father Fred Byrnes in 1997 in an effort to make Penn State students more aware of the economic disparity that exists between the United States and Haiti. Although Project Haiti is a student-run organization operating out of Penn State’s Catholic Campus Ministry, our club membership consists of students from all backgrounds, with one mission: to raise funds and awareness for the people of Haiti.
As a student organization, Project Haiti holds multiple fundraisers throughout the year. Spaghetti dinners, date auctions, and bake sales are just a few of the events we host on and off campus to promote our cause. Every year during our spring break, individuals from Project Haiti travel to the country to visit our beneficiary organizations as a personal effort to be in solidarity with the people of Haiti.
